Star-Crossed Lovers

Once there was a moon and a sun,

The love of the sun for the moon burned brightly.

It hadn’t even been a love that had begun.

But the reciprocated love of the moon was unlikely.

Yet still the fire in the sun burned,

Even though everyone knew that it’s fire would be put out.

“It’s impossible and highly unlikely” everyone warned.

But the sun had no doubt.

But every time the sun tried to approach the moon,

It would always leave silently very soon.

Heartbroken and miserable the sun cried

So many tears so that none of them dried.

The rain fell for years after that,

Resulting in famine due to this never-stopping pitter-pat.

The people were suffering and weak, so they cried

Anything to get the sun to stop, they tried.

After centuries the rain finally stopped,

The tears and sadness away the sun locked.

The sun grew ashamed of her immature behavior

Decided that unconditional loving was part of her nature.

So she ran away every time the moon got near,

Out of embarrassment, anger, and fear.

This is the story of how the sun and the moon came to be

Running away from each other eternally.

Once there was a moon and a sun,

The love of the moon for the sun was brighter than any star

It hadn’t even been a love that had begun.

But the reciprocated love of the sun was unlikely by far.

Yet still the love of the moon burned,

Even though everyone knew that it’s love would be put out.

“It’s impossible and highly unlikely” everyone warned.

But the moon had no doubt.

But every time the moon tried to approach the sun,

Silently and quickly away she would run.
