Taking care of your skin is a simple task that one can easily forget about with adverse effects during the IB. For girls especially, healthy looking skin can reduce the amount of makeup you have to wear. I took to my friend Christine Haddad who prioritizes skincare over everything and has some great tips to maintain radiance even throughout those IA meeting-filled weeks.

 

As the key to healthy skin is a healthy diet, what are favorite foods to maintain a healthy diet?

“A plant-based diet – I think fruits, vegetables and plant-based protein like tofu create softer skin and makes me feel more awake when I study.”

 

What do you love snacking on?

“I personally love snacking on almonds, pistachios, dried mango, and pineapple.”

 

What do you eat to treat yourself while keeping your skin in healthy conditions?

“Sushi and chocolate granola bars – they taste like cookies! I also love these vegan cookies by the company VEGANZ called chocolate-vanilla.”

 

What are favorite skincare brands?

“Dr. Jart, Clarins, Tatcha and Origins for mixed skin types.”

 

What does your morning skin regimen look like?

“I wash my face with a dermatologist recommended face wash, tone it with micellar water and moisturize with the Water Drop moisturizer by Dr. Jart. I try to wear minimal makeup when I feel confident about my face.”

 

Do you have any tips throughout the day to keep your skin glowing?

“Once again, my diet is invaluable but I also go to the gym three times a week (especially in my frees). I wish I would drink more water throughout the day.”

 

Are there any face-masks you do a few times a week to rejuvenate your skin?

“I am obsessed with the GinZing Peel Off Mask by Origins and I use the Hydration Lover rubber mask by Dr. Jart.”

 

What does your night-time routine look like?

“I wash my face again and use the Dr. Jart Cicapair Tiger Grass Cream. I love trying night-time serums as well like right now I am obsessed with the Estée Lauder Advanced Night Repair.”

 

Do you have any other tips?

“Throughout the IB, it is easy to forget about hygiene and personal health but I love taking vitamins and ensuring I get 8 hours of sleep at least every night. Overall good hygiene and cleaner surroundings (like my room) have benefitted me as well I have realized that taking care of my skin has been a path to self-love as well which has made me a happier person and in retrospect, I think has also improved my skin.”
