Lights, camera, action! The scene opens up to three teachers teaching pre-teens the way of acting.
This program is called MYTE which stands for Middle Years Theatre Ensemble. MYTE is a theatre company for middle schoolers. Plenty of work goes into this program because you need to memorize lines and songs, figure out blocking, fit costumes, and create the props, and memorize songs. Students have the choice to be in the cast or in the crew. The crew designs the props and finds the costumes.
The people who make this happen are Mrs. Abrams, Ms. Sturgeon, and Mr. Gregg.
Mrs. Abrams is the director of the MYTE program. She is really encouraging, inspiring and creative. She is really kind with the students and devotes her time to us so we can practice our scripts, blocking, get costumes/props, and make this an unforgettable experience.
Ms. Sturgeon is the music coordinator. She is patient and kind with the students even when they are being wild, and kind when teaching songs.
Mr. Gregg is the dance coordinator for the plays and dances. He is good-hearted and helpful. He helped with the scenes both last year and this year. One of the scenes that I enjoyed that he choreographed was this year when the ensemble did the ‘Sword Fight Scene’.
I enjoyed MYTE for three reasons; the people, the experience, and the lessons I learned along the way. The cast and crew are like your second family; they are very kind, and they bond and help each other out with lines and schoolwork. The experience is amazing because you get to hang out and work after school and sometimes during the school day. Plus, you can make many friends along with this experience.
