Buckingham Palace is a family-friendly experience where you can go inside of the Palace and through the gardens. Some highlights from Buckingham Palace are the white drawing room, ballroom, green drawing room, grand staircase, the throne room, state rooms, marble hall, picture gallery, and the music room. The ballroom can hold up to 84 double-decker buses, the state room’s ceilings are decorated, and there are 500 clocks just inside of the Palace. Some highlights of the exterior of the Palace are in the palace gardens, including animals and fish. During the Summer Opening, you can get a copy of the trails and see if you can find some of the wildlife there. Plus, on certain days you can see the changing of the guards at 11am on Monday, Wednesday, Friday, and Sunday.
Another sight to see is the Tower of London. Make sure to get one of the Beefeater (Yeoman) Tours. During the tour they explain the ravens, the towers, and give more background information. Charles II is believed to have been the first to request that the Tower’s ravens be protected after he was warned that if the tower’s ravens left the grounds, then both the crown and the Tower would fall. But for all those fashion and jewelry lovers, there are Crown Jewels. The crown jewels have been stored and displayed at the Tower of London since 1661, when going through make sure to look for the Imperial State Crown, state crown frames, and the origins of crown jewels including the destruction of the original jewels. The Imperial State Crown has the Koh-i-Noor diamond which is the most famous diamond in the world, it weighs 105.6 carats and it was much larger until they cut it down to European tastes.
