How to Discover Happiness
Many people struggle to find happiness. This is because they look for it in the wrong places. Happiness doesn’t come from material or money. It comes from deeper fulfillment and by being content from within.
Happiness is something which we all want, but we often fail in achieving it. Happiness comes in so many different forms that it can be hard to grasp. A lot of people who can’t easily find their happiness tend to not have a lot of time to spend on achieving happiness. Due to the lack of time to find happiness, they focus on only one source of happiness, which can become troublesome. The attitude to rely on a single source of happiness can become troublesome because, in the case of a pandemic, several sources would become unavailable which would lead to lack of happiness in life. A way to resolve this is by creating more sources of happiness that can replace the currently unavailable ones.
The following are three key sources of happiness that will level up your satisfaction and fulfillment.
1. Places
Everyone desires to travel to places that pleases them. The places could be their favorite country to travel to, concerts where they can release their stress, theatres if they enjoy watching movies, and much more. However, due to the pandemic, a lot of people might feel reluctant to go to public places which could lead to health problems.
The safest and most comfortable place will be your home. It is true that a majority of people do home office these days, but separating your working place and resting place will not only enhance your happiness but also increase productivity. For example, if you enjoy designing and decorating rooms, you could redesign the house interior so the house design is even more customised for you.
If you are not a person who can be happy in your house, there are a few public and open-air locations that are available, such as parks and forests. Just by walking in the park or forest, you can feel much better and less depressed compared to when you are quarantined for the entire day. Going outside will not only help you feel better but also allow you to get a higher level of vitamin D which also contributes to your happiness.
Offline activities replaced with meticulous and well-planned online services can make your life more active along with achieving happiness. During the pandemic, concerts, musical performances have been canceled. However, these days, artists perform online so they have an online concert, which would allow you to enjoy your cultural life without having to be wary of the coronavirus.
2. Friends
If you ask what the easiest way to tap into your happiness, I would say people. If you are not spending time with anyone and staying alone, this will severely affect your happiness. It has been proven that loneliness is the virtual ‘killer’ so it is important to spend a lot of time especially with those who make you happy. Despite the pandemic situation, where any personal contact must be reconsidered, it is vital to maintain one’s social life status. Whether or not you have close relationships with the people around you, having conversations with them over zoom, or even just texting them is vital to obtain your happiness.
3. Experiences
Along with meeting people and going to places that bring you joy, the things you do to achieve happiness are also vital.
The more time you spend experiencing the moments of happiness, the less you will be depressed due to the pandemic situation and the loss of quotidian life. For example, during this pandemic, I am spending more time watching dramas and movies because I know that they will always be a source that will make me happy.
We all want to feel happy, and each of us has different ways of getting there. Happiness and fulfillment are within your grasp, but sometimes just out of reach.
Combining these three sources will create the maximum amount of happiness and make life happier, more joyful. However, using them as separate sources will also impact your happiness in a positive way. Whether it is through people, places, or experiences, having at least one source in your life that brings happiness is the most important thing. Therefore, understanding the key sources of happiness is the first step in finding them more often.
